  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    this was the first attempt to fiancince defense. It was made by the British Government. The sugar act led to protest, and taxes on Molasses were dropped.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    With the Stamp Act the parliment requires that they get all legal paper work. Also they are required to use watermarked or stamped paper.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act stated that all the colonies were required to pay for supplies for the British Government. New York argued that they could not force them too.

    Declaration of Rights and Grievances
    The Declaration of Rights and Grievances declared that taxing the British Colony was unconstitutional unless they knew about it first.

    The Declaratory Act states that it has the right to tax the colonies.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    The Townshend Act put taxes on tea, glass, lead, paper, and paint. The people boycotted with the saying "Taxation without Representation."
  • Boston Massacre

    During the "Boston Massacre" the crowd harrassed soldiers who were protecting the custon house. Then the soldier got knocked down and discharged his musket and killed five civilians.

    the Tea Act had the parliment take tea out of the imports. it also allowed companies to sell directly to the colonies. Americans resented what they saw as indirect tax and looked at like a British Company instead.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The colonies were mad about the tax on tea so they disguied a man as a Mohawk Indian and had him dump all the tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • Coercive Act

    The Coercive Act was from May to June 1774. It was when Mass. stripped itself of self government and Judical independance after the Tea Party. The colonies did a general boycott of British goods in return.

    The first Continental Congress Meeting was about opposing the Intolerable Acts. It was held in Philadelphia.
