Aptitude Test
Beatrice turns 16 and takes her aptitude est to determine her fraction. She doesn't get one fraction she gets three which makes her divergent, which of nobody can know as people are scared of divergents and will kill them. -
Choosing Day
After being informed that she is divergent, Beatrice chooses the faction of dauntless- Dauntless value the virtue of bravery and being fearless, they guard the fence that keeps everyone in the city and helps stop anyone from coming in. -
Initiation
Beatrice goes with the other dauntless to their compound to start her initiation which is jumping off a 20 story building into a hole where there is a net at the bottom and survives her first stage of initiation. Beatrice also decides to change her name to 'Tris' as she is given the opportunity to and also meets four. -
Initiation stage 1
Tris starts initiation stage 1 with all of the other non-born dauntless people and only the top 10 people get accepted in whilst the others have to live factionless in the streets. -
Initiation stage 1 results
Initiation stage 1 results are put up and Tris has ranked 7th so she will go onto the next stage. That night Tris wakes to someone screaming and finds that Peter has stabbed Edward in the eye with a butter knife out of envy as Edward got 1st and Peter got 2nd and Edward is forced to drop out of initiation and become factionless. -
Initiation stage 2
Stage 2 of dauntless initiation, their tests consist around their fears and in a simulation are forced to face and overcome all of their fears. Tris has 7 fears and faces them fast and unusually in her simulation and four starts to suspect that she is divergent. -
Divergent
Four finds out that Tris is divergent and warns her to be careful and that during her final test everyone would be watching her simulation. -
Stage 2 initiation
Stage 2 of initiation is over and Tris ranks the highest out of the dauntless. That night Peter, Drew and her friend Al try to murder Tris by throwing her over the side of a ravine that is inside the divergent headquarters but four comes and stops them. -
Suicide
Al kills himself by jumping into the ravine after Tris refuses to forgive him and he can't live with himself after he almost killed his best friend due to being afraid of Tris, that she would kick him out of the ranks. -
Visiting Caleb
Tris goes to Erudite to see her brother Caleb and asks him to research the Erudite serum as her mum asked her to ask him on the parent visiting day. -
Four Fears
It’s the day before the final day of initiation and Four shows Tris what the test will be like by taking her into his fear landscape with him. During this Tris finds out that four is Marcus the abnegation leader's son and that four is called four because he has four fears. -
Serum (morning)
Tris wakes to everyone already getting dressed and in a zombie like trance. Getting dressed Tris mimics everyone and follows them out of the room. Everyone else seems to be in the same trance except for the dauntless leaders and herself. As people start filing onto a train Tris spots Four and moves to stand beside him and four squeezes her hand, because they were divergent the serum didn't work on them. -
Serum (afternoon)
Tris is reunited with her father and Caleb. They go to the Dauntless compound and shut off the serum, in the process Tris’s father is killed. At the Dauntless compound Four goes with Tris. Aftre that Tris, Caleb, Four etc. go to amity for help and for a place to stay. -
Serum (day)
Dauntless begin an invasion against abnegation and begin shooting them. Four and Tris are captured and are found to be divergent. As they are about to be shot Tris's mother saves her and four is taken to erudite to be given a stronger serum to override his divergent. Whilst going to where her brother and dad is her mum is shot and Tris is forced to shoot one of her best friends Will or else she'll get shot. -
Final Stage
Tris takes the test for the final stage of initiation and not only passes but ranks first in it. After the test is done everyone is injected with a serum.
