    Anthony Johnson came over to Virginia as an indentured servant named Antonio. Anthony changed his name when he came over to be more like the English. When Anthony's indentured servant time was up he acquired his own land. But then laws started to change after his death and his land that he acquired was taken away from his children, and his children never rose higher than a tenant farmer or a small freeholder. John Johnson (the oldest) moved to Delaware in the 1680's.
