    Aristotle's Theory

Aristotle, like other Greeks came up with the idea that evereything revolved around the earth, and that everything was perfectly symmetrical, and that gravity was when all objects were falling onto the Earth. This Theory actually occured in 350 BC

    Ptolemy's Theory

Adding to Aristotle's thoery, Ptolemy made a system of circles and epicycles that show the motion of the planets and stars revolving around the earth. Everytime an observation didn't agree to the theory, he added another epicycle so the motion could be perfect; This theory actually occured in 2 AD, NOt 352
  • Newton's Theory

Newton was sitting under a tree, when an apple fell and hit him on the head. The reason he thought of gravity was because of how when the apple fell, it accelerated "due to gravity" (also his 2nd law). He then took it further to explaain that yes, gravity is when object fall onto the earth (cannon experiment), but he made a point to explain that the moon has no gravity or acceleration because it has not fallen onto the earth yet.

After the Popularity of Newton, along came Einstein

  • Cavendish, the man who weighed the earth

Even though the equation for gravitation, he helped tweak into what is is today because of his contribution by weighing the size of the earth.
  • Einstein

His theory and thing included in his theory such as light bending and raised clocks were among the many things that actually violated Newton's theory. His theory was that "warping" of time and space gave rise to gravity.
