The Berlin Airlift was to airlift food and fuel to Berlin from allied air bases in Western Germany. This was to keep millions of German citizens from starving and freezing to death during the BErlin Blockade. Life in West Berlin was difficult because of the blockades. -

The creation of NATO happened to secure peace in Europe. The United states, Canada, and several western European nations were involved in this creation. NATO focused on collective defense and its protection of its members. -

The sputnik was launched by the soviet union, and it looked like a basketball. It was the first manmade object to orbit around the earth. The sputnik made it possible to test satellite pressurization. -

The construction of the Berlin wall was built to keep East Germans from escaping to the West. This wall would prevent the west from having further influence on the east. The Berlin wall became the most iconic image of the cold war. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban missile crisis was a direct and dangerous conflict between the U.S. and the soviet union. If the Cuban missiles went wrong it would turn the cold war into a hot nuclear war. President Kennedy didn’t want anyone to know that he was the one who discovered the missiles. -

Moon landing was the arrival of a spacecraft on the surface of the moon. The purpose of this was to send American astronauts to the surface and return them before the end of the decade. This was the time that John F. Kennedy landed on the moon. -

The destruction of the berlin wall happened during the peaceful revolution. The Berlin wall was called “the iron curtain” causing it to divide. The destruction of the Berlin wall meant the first step towards German reunification.
