    Discuss Shared Vision with district leadership. Hear updates on district-wide plans for 1:1 iPad implementation.

    Teachers will work with USD to meet Oceanside 2.0 Benchmarks for Del Rio. The focus of this PLC will meet Benchmark #1: teachers will have, at minimum, basic iPad proficiencies, and Benchmark #4: Teachers demonstrate implementation of the Common Core standards. Specifically, teachers will be guided in installing Keynote on an iPad and creating a lesson for their class in Keynote.

    This PLC will focus on Benchmark #3: teachers are establishing norms of 21st century learning-4Cs and Benchmark #2: teachers have, at minimum, basic profieciences that enable them to use the district LMS (Canvas). Teachers will share their Keynote creations and will be assigned a new task to complete in Canvas.

    Teachers will learn how to make an iMovie, which further develops Benchmark #1 (basic iPad proficiencies). Use of 21st century learning and Common Core standards (Benchmarks #3 and #4) should be evident in all lessons teachers developing using iPad apps over the next two months.

    Teachers will complete a survey to determine their knowledge of digital literacy, digital citizenship, and Internet safety.

    Continuing to build on Benchmark #1 (basic iPad proficiences) and Benchmark #2 (basic LMS proficiences), teachers will share their iMovie, learn VoiceThread, and submit items into Canvas.

    Students who will receive iPads in the fall will complete lessons in digital literacy, digital cirizenship, and Internet safety.

    Benchmark #2: Teachers build Canvas classes

    Teachers will move forward in Benchmark #2 (basic LMS proficiences) by building their own class in Canvas.

    Finalizing work on Benchmark #2, teachers will share their Canvas class. Content on the class should reflect implementation of the Common Core standards (Benchmark #4) and evidence of 21st century learning with the 4Cs (Benchmark #3).

    Reviewing what they have completed in the Spring, and looking forward to implementing 1:1 iPads in the Fall, teachers will create a reflection of what they have come to understand about digital learning. This is a step towards establishing a Digital Learning Culture (ISTE Standard #2) at Del Rio.

    After determining apps to install, and restrictions to set up, configure all iPads.

    Teachers will be provided with a checklist to teach students basic operation of iPads. This checklist will be based on Del Rio's piloting of 1:1 iPads in two classrooms beginning in Fall of 2012.

    Teachers should have students enrolled in class, inform parents on how to register for their child's class in Canvas, and begin to use the Announcement feature of Canvas to keep parents and students informed of classroom news.
  • Teaching students multiple apps

    Teaching students multiple apps

    Teachers will demonstrate to students how to use basic iPad apps, including Pages, Keynote, iMovie, Safari, and email. The rollout of apps for students should be staggered over the month of September. Teachers can anticipate a good amount of frontloading during this month so students can complete assignments more easily during the school year. In addition, teachers will teach students the responsibilities of being a good digital citizen.
