    National Education Association is formed
    A group of 43 teachers met in Philadelphia to unite under the idea of improving the learning environment for students and teachers. NEA has sought to unite teachers and students to engage in a stronger learning experience for over 150 years and continues today to be a unifying force in the field.

  • Committee of Ten and Committee of Fifteen

    Committee of Ten and Committee of Fifteen
    NEA forms the committee of Ten to create a standard education for high school students. The committee of ten worked on setting a core curriculum for students to prepare them for college studies. Committee of Fifteen was focused on elementary education. The focus was on subject centered education for students to prepare them for the educational experience.

    Education for All Handicapped Children Act
