    American U2 spy plane shot down
    The plane was created to fly over the Soviet Union by the CIA and tell whether or not if the Soviets had any war weapons or if they are planning to start something with the US. However, the plane was shot down and they captured the pilot. President Eisenhower admitted that the plane was to spy on the Soviets. To save the pilot, Gary Powers, he was released in exchange for a captured Soviet spy.

    Psycho was released and it scared many people. It was a very popular movie during that time. It was made people think about the possibilities of what could happen if they truted strangers too much! It was his greatest chiller movie in that time period.

    On April 17, 1961, 1400 Cuban exiles launched what became a botched invasion at the Bay of Pigs on the south coast of Cuba. The Invasion:
    The first mishap occurred on April 15, 1961, when eight bombers left Nicaragua to bomb Cuban airfields. The CIA had used obsolete World War II B-26 bombers, and painted them to look like Cuban air force planes. The attack was a fail and Castro had taken the bombers prisoner.The prisoners had to wait 20 months while the US had to nagotiate w/Castro.

    the United States put nukes in turkey just in case Russia tried to attack the U.S. They did this because Cuba is right near the shore of the United Sates and Cuba was allies with Russia (they were both communist.) Then, the U.S. found nukes in Cuba. In the end, it was the closest event in history that almost caused a nuclear war.

Spectators got angry and began the riot. They were looting stores, beating whites, and shooting any policeman and firefighter. As a result, there were 34 deaths, 1,034 people injured, and $40 million of property damage.
