Krakatoa

Aug 26, 1883

The Krakatoa volcano in the Sandra Strait between Java and Sumatra caused the top of the volcano to collapse into the Ocean. This collapse produced a giant tsunami more than 115 feet high that destroyed 165 villages and killed over 36,000 people.
