    A war fought between France and Britain over control of the Ohio river valley. Britain had the help of colonist and Native Americans and France had the help of many Native Americans. The war was fought in New World territory and was the starting point in history that lead to major revolutionary events.

    The proclamation of 1763 was a proclamation from the British government that prevented British colonist from settling west of the Appalachian Mountains. Any setters already living west of the mountain had to move back east.

    The Stamp Act was a tax that was put on the American colonies by the British parliament.The colonies had to pay a tax on printed goods such as newspapers.

    Began with a small argument between British soldiers and colonist. The colonist started to harass and throw things at the soldiers that eventually led to them firing at colonist and killing some of them.

    Boston colonist disguised themselves as Indians and threw tea into the harbor as a protest against taxes on tea. It was led by Samuel Adams against the tea act.

    The Battle of Quebec was a major American defeat, Colonial forces sought to invade and capture Quebec but they were turned back by British and French canadian forces.

    The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson and it was amended by the Continental Congress. It was approved On July 2 and adopted on July 4th. The Declaration stated the grievance of the colonial citizens towards the cruelty of the British government and marked the official separation between America and Great Britain.

    Battle of Long Island
    George Washington sought to defend New York from being captured by British forces but lost. The battle of Long Island was the first major defeat following the Declaration of Independence. Washington and his army managed to evacuate from Brooklyn to Manhattan and escape destruction by the British but the battles that were fought in Manhattan ended in defeat for American forces. Washington was forced to withdraw completely from New York City into New Jersey.

    American forces surrounded and defeated the British army. General Hohn Burgoyne had intended to split the new country in half, cutting off New England from the rest of the new country but failed.

    Valley Forge is were George Washington and the Continental army camped. The troops suffered from harsh cold, starvation, and disease. Washington managed to hold the army together and with news that the French would enter the war on the American side, the army was able to recapture Philadelphia.

    The articles of confederation was the first governing document of the newly created United States. It allowed for Continental congress to run the revolutionary war and make deals necessary to in and end it. It ended up being replaced by the US Constitution in 1789.

    The compromise of 1790 was a deal between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton in which Jefferson agreed to back Hamilton´s plan for the federal government to assume that all the war debt of the individual states while Hamilton agreed to back moving the national capital from New York City to a territory in the south.

    The Bill of rights refers to the first ten amendments that deal with personal freedoms and limitations on government powers. It originally applied to the federal government but the fouthteenth amendment allowed for them to be applied to the individual states as well.
