TV's were involved. TV's were invented in 1940's. When they were first made only 17000 people had them in the United States. Took place around the country. It was important to history because it changes the way people do things now. By the end of the 1950's over 50 million people had them. It impacted the economy because commercials brought in over 1.5 billion dollars. It impacted society because people started to stay inside there homes more. -
Truman Doctrine
Only congress is involved in this event. What happened was that Truman Doctrine asked for 400 million dollars in military aid. It was for Greece and Turkey to stop communism from spreading there. The event was in Turkey and Greece. It is important because if the two countries turned communism they would be a part of the Warsaw pact. It impacted the politics because it was communism against democracy in the cold war. So the more countries that had democracy was better. -
Marshall Plan
George Marshall and western Europe was involved. He asked for 12 billion dollars. Like Truman it was aid but for to rebuild Western Europe from WW 2 in April 1948. It was important to history because it rebuild the destruction for World War 2. It impacted society because so many people lost their homes from the destruction. And it helped the economy by giving money to western Europe. -

Joe McCarthy
Just Joe was involved in this event. He had a list of 57 state department employees who were communist. And many people were fired because of this. It happened in WI. It was important to history because it happened in our state so it gave Wisconsin a bad rep. Secondly a lot of people lost their jobs and they didn't do anything. It impacted society because like I said a lot of people lost their jobs. It also impacted politics because Joe M. got fired and they had to get 57 new state department. -
Brown v.s. Board
Oliver Brown and the NAACP were involved in this event. What happened was that a man named Oliver Brown asked the local board to let his daughter Linda attend an all white school. The reason why is because the all white school was closer to his house. It happened in 1954. This was important to because NAACP helped file a lawsuit Thur good Marshall. Also thing is that it violated the 14th amendment. It impacted society by overturning the plessy vs Ferguson desegregating all school. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The U.S. Russia and Cuba was involved in this event, JFK and Nikita Khrushchev. What happened was that Russia started sending weapons to Cuba. Then they started sending Nuclear missiles to. It took place in Cuba, the United States, and a little bit of Turkey. It was important to history because it was the closest the world has been to nuclear war. And Russia took nucs out of Cuba and we took ours out of Turkey. Impacted people. Because a lot of people could've died. -

Kent State Massacre
Ohio school, president Nixon, and National guardsmen. Ohio school protested after Nixon's pledge to send troops to Cambodia. The police was bayoneting and clubbing the protesters, and national guardsmen killed 4 people who were protesting. It took place in 1970. It impacted society because 4 students were killed and the national guardsmen didn't get blamed. Also 25 students and professors were found guilty. -
Jimmy Carter
Jimmy Carter is involved. He was a president from 1976 to 1980, his party was Democrat. The 39th president. This took place in Washington D.C. He is important because he was the president of the U.S for 4 years and led this country. It impacted more than just american society he boycotted the Olympics in 1980. And impacted the people by passing social security act. -
Iraq Afghanistan wars
Iraq, Afghanistan, George W. Bush and British Prime minister Tony Blair were involved. After 9/11 U.S sent troops to Afghanistan to kill the terror group Al Qaeda and the Taliban. Also to go after Osama Bin Laden. Took place in Iraq and Afghanistan. It was important to history because the possibility of Iraq employing weapons of mass destruction. Also to protect oil reserves. It impacted society because there were 6,882 casualties. Also economy it cost 4-6 trillion dollars. -

George W. Bush was involved. He was 43rd president of the United States. He served 2 terms from 2000 until 2008. He was a republican. Took place in Washington D.C. It was important because he was the president and he helped with war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan. He impacted society because 9/11 happened in his presidency. Also he impacted the government by killing Saddam Hussein.
