    International organization created to solve the world's problems peacefully. They are 193 countries involved. Started in 1945. Located NYC. It is important because they want to improve education and solve problems like disease and hunger. United Nations impacted society because they want to help solve world problems.
  • NATO/Warsaw Pact

    NATO/Warsaw Pact
    NATO was a political and military alliance made up by the U.S., Britain, and France. The Warsaw Pact was the Soviet Union's military alliance. Headquarters for NATO in Brussels, Belgium. Warsaw Pact in Soviet Union. The event is important to history because they were both organizations that would help their group but would fight against each other if they had to. NATO/Warsaw pact impacted politics because the government was part of it and making decisions.

    His first single was in 1954, Elvis Presley was involved. He's known for his music and moves, king of rock n roll. This was in Memphis, Tennessee. It's important to history because people fell in love with him. He impacted society because he was part of giving to charity, helping family members, paying bills. He made a a bunch of albums and movies.

    Rosa Parks and a white passenger was involved. She refused to give her seat up on a bus to the white passenger, which started the Montgomery boycott and other efforts to end segregation. It was in Alabama. It was important to history because after a year of boycotting, the buses finally stopped segregation and Rosa joined a lot of civil rights movement. Rosa parks impacted society because she protested in a non-violent way to try to end segregation.

    Lee Harvey Oswald was the one responsible for JFK's death. JFK, his wife, and Texas governor were on a parade in downtown Dallas when Harvey shot him 3 times from a school book building. It's important to history because it was in a open car, where he could be easily targeted, nobody expected it to happened. JFK assassination impacted politics because the vice president had to step in.

    Medicare is for people over 65 and funded by the government, pay part for the payroll taxes. Medicaid is for any age and funded by the state that offers health coverage to low-income people, which was signed by President Johnson. It impacted economy because the government was helping these people, It's important to history because it was a way for the government to help the people. Took place in our country.

    Martin Luther King and the assassin James Earl Ray were involved. MLK was at the Lorraine Motel in room 306, he was across the parking lot, and shot him. This was in Memphis, Tennessee. It's important to history because he wanted to get rid of the leader who was so strong in the Civil Rights Movement. MLK assassination impacted society because with him dying, the Civil Rights kind of died to.

    Richard Nixon, his republican party and the democratic party was involved. Some of the republican party was spying on the democratic strategy for the 1972 election. This happened in the Watergate hotel at Washington D.C. It's important to history because he tried to cover it up, but was the only president to resign. Nixon/Watergate impacted politics because when america looks at our government, they might not fully trust the president. Impacted society as well.

    Jimmy Carter and the democratic party. He was a president that didn't know how to solve problems, but was able to pass the Social Security Act. He was the governor of Georgia. He's important to history because there were hostages that were taken in Iran that were held for a year, and didn't do anything about it. Jimmy Carter impacted politics because he was part of the Helsinki agreement with many other nations to help with relations with the U.S.S.R

    George Bush and Al Gore were involved. George was a republican from Texas, won the electoral vote. 9/11 changed everything for him. George W. Bush is important to history because he was as looked as a strong president after 9/11 happened. He decided to go war with Afghanistan. Impacted society because people backed him up on his decision to go to war to end terror.

    This took place in Afghanistan and Iraq. For Iraq, we were trying to eliminate gov of Saddam Hussein. Afghanistan, trying to eliminate Al-Qaeda/Bin Laden. The terrorist group of these countries against the U.S. These wars are important to history because they resulted in many deaths and both lasted for a long time. Impacted society because people wanted to get rid of the terrorist that were against us. We were able to kill Bin Laden on 5/2/2011. S. Hussein was captured in 12/13/2003.

    Hurricane Katrina
    Hurricane Katrina was one of the deadliest hurricanes. Everyone that was hit by it was involved. Hurricane Katrina impacted society because in the aftermath thousands of people in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana lost their homes. People were upset that the government was slow to their needs.1,833 died and there was major flooding. Thousands evacuated to the New Orleans football dome for protection. It's important to history because it was one of the worst ever recorded.
