At the remote test site named Semipalatinsk, the soviets exploded its first atomic bomb. The name of the bomb was the "First Lightning" To see the effect the bomb could do they built structures just like a city would have. They also set up animals in nearby cages to see if it had a radiation effect. -

President John F. Kennedy announced on nationcal television that America had discovered Soviet missle bases in Cuba. President Kennedy announced he was putting on a naval quarintine on Cuba. He did this to prevent the Soviets from transporting any more weapons over to Cuba.
