Cold War
The Soviet Union, Hitler, Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy were involved in the Cold War. Joseph Stalin took political control of the territories they were alloted, and these counties became communist. It occured in Germany it changed traditional European political systems, and make the world safe for democracy under a new international order. -
Truman Doctrine
The United States, Greece, and Turkey were involved in the Truman Doctrine. Truman justified this dramatic change to the current American policy with 3 points that said it was in the best interest of the country. This events took placde in the Joint session of US Congress. Congress agreed to change its policy was that it mistakenly believed the Soviets would support Communism in Greece. -
The Marshall Plan
United States, Greece, and Italy were involved in the Marshall Plan. The Marshall Plan happened when the nations of Europe had to draw up an economic recovery program and the United States would support the program financially. This event took place in Western Europe and happened of all the ruin and economics that were devastated between all of them and it basically was a period of reconstruction. -
Berlin
Great Britain. U.S., Air Crews, Harry Truman, George Marshall, USSR. Western Allies, and France were involved in the Berlin Blockade and Airlift. What happened was that the Soviet Union cut off all supply routes from the Western Allies to West Berlin including channels, roads, and railways. This event took place in Germany and occured because the Soviets announced that four-power administration of Berlin had ceased and that the Allies no longer had any rights there. -
Berlin AIrlift
Harry Truman, Winston Churchill, and Josef Stalin were involved in the Berlin Airlift. American and British air forces supplied the city of West Berlin with everything from food to coal.It happened in England and Western Germany and landed in West Berlin. It occured because Russians had cut off access from the Allied zones of occupations in West Energyto West Berlin, Whivh was in the Russian zone. So, Allies had to either surrender West Berlin or they had to supply it by air. -
Korean War
North and South Korea and China was involved in the Korean War. What happened is that the Soviets blocked all election participation and refused to participate. The USSR supported King II Sung while the US supported Syngman Rhee. This event happened in Korea and this war occured because the North Korean Communist army crossed the 38th parallel and invaded non communist South Korea. -
Rosenberg Trial
The people who were involved in the Rosenberg Trial were Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, David and Ruth Greenglass, Irving Saypol, and Irving Kaufman.What happened is that Julius and David, who worked at Los Alomos were sending secrets about the atomic bombs to Soviet Russia. Occured during the beginning of McCarthyism, in the early 1950's. The Rosenberg's were accused of selling nuclear secrets to the Soviet Union. -
Sputnik (1957)
Russia, USA, and Sergei K, the engineerbehind Sputnik was involved in the Sputnik 1957. What happened was that the 1st man-made object was launched into space. Artificially, successfully placed in orbit around Earth. This occurred in the "Space Age" and it happened because the Russians were beating the us to space and scientific technology in general. The us was trying to prove its will power to the USSR. -
U2 Spyplane Incident (1960)
Francis Gary Powers was involved in this event. Francis Powers was shot down while flying over Soviet air space. This happened in Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan. It occured because the presidency of Dwight D. Eidenhower and the priemiership of Nikita Khrushehev, was a US U2 spyplane was shot down while in Soviet space. -
Bay of Pigs Invasion (1961)
This was between the US and Cuba which was backed by the Soviet Union. It happened when a CIA financed and trained group of Cuban refugees lands in Cuba and attempts to topple the communist government of Fidel Castro. It took place in Cuba, at the Bay of Pigs. It happened because Castro came into power and many people did not like his communistic rule.
