  • Chinese Civil War

    Chinese Civil War
    The war between the nationalists and communists ended with a win for Mao Zedong. Even with Chang Kai-Sheik beg for help from The United States, they haven't thought of the idea, later introduced, containment (not letting communism spread) and allow them to defeat the nationalists.   • Iron Curtain

    Iron Curtain
    In Fulton, Missouri Winston Churchill, Prime Minister of Britain uses the term "iron curtain" to represent the secrecy of Soviet Union. An "iron curtain" never truly existed, it's only used metaphorically. Though, the idea of the "iron curtain" drifted after the death of dictator Joseph Stalin, the figure of it was still there till 1990 Source:

  • Truman Doctrine

    Truman Doctrine
    This new doctrine was created to use the idea of containment. This is where communist is contained and doesn't spread to other places. With this new effort in mind they would not try to suspend the current communist, but rather not allow the boundaries be pushed even farther back. Sources:

  • Marshall Plan

    Marshall Plan
    The Marshall Plan was created to give financial aid to Europe, in order to help rebuild. The main reason the United States help rebuild was to stop the influence of communism and influence the idea of capitalistic.   • Berlin Airlift

    Berlin Airlift
    In order to prevent supplies from entering the allied side of Berlin, the soviets created a blockade as defense. With no tracks to enter the newly closed off portion of Berlin, The United States had another plan. They used aircraft to drop supplies from above. This defeated the creation of blockade. Though, more time consuming, the airlift was well worth the effort needed. Sources:

  • Nato (North Atlantic Treaty Organization)

    Nato (North Atlantic Treaty Organization)
    The purpose of Nato was to defend countries from military tactics of the east. This allowed the states to station in countries other than the United States, to help other countries. Once, West Germany joined Nato the Warsaw Pact was created. Sources:

  • The Korean War

    The Korean War
    The communists invaded Southern Korea. With efforts not to allow influence of communism, The United Nations, led by The United States was there first attempt at containment (not allowing communism to spread.)   • The Vietnam War Pt.1

    The Vietnam War Pt.1
    A dispute between North Vietnam communist government and South Korea. The North wanted to unite the powers of the two locations in order to become more powerful, but the South wanted to remain allies with the over barring in power United States. Sources: On Vietnam Pt.2
  • The Vietnam War Pt.2

    The Vietnam War Pt.2
    In order to prevent the domino theory, the idea of the repetition of an idea occurring everywhere, the United States followed there containment policy to prevent the spread of communists. With no fight left to give the United States withdrew, and left the rest of Vietnam communist, and still is present day. Source:

  • Warsaw Pact

    Warsaw Pact
    The Warsaw Pact was a military agreement between communist countries (soviet satellites.) The treaty was singed in Warsaw, Poland. This pact was created to counter act the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Sources:

  • Berlin Wall

    Berlin Wall
    The new division between East Berlin and the Soviets was not just metaphorical, a barbed wire and cinder block wall was created to separate the two locations. This prevented people from the East to flee to the West. Three decades later the Berlin Wall was torn down in November, 1991. sources:
