The Occupying of Germany
After WW2 as known Germany was sent into total destruction and had no functional government and had to work on getting this all back. In this they got a lot of help From NASO but couldn't do it alone, so they had Germany divided into 3 Zones, Soviets had 1/3 of the Country, and U.S, France, and Great Britain. The Allies then divided Berlin into 4 zones of occupation but the city layed deep within the Soviet Controlled region of Germany. -

Berlin blockade
In March of 1948 the allies decided to give 4 certain areas of Germany to each try and build up Germany, The Soviet occupation forces in eastern Germany began a blockade of all rail, road, and water communications between Berlin and the West. This had forced them to start something called the Berlin Airlift, which is America bringing in food and supplies to these people, Fact about this is that a plane/helicopter was sent every 30 secs. -

From the 1960s-1980s there was a time in where the U.S and Russia were having a little battle to see who get could get the better weapons in time. This would just go back and fourth with one getting the better weapons and then the other side advancing really quickly. U.S was feared by them and tried to make deals to keep peace. -

the Soviet Union shot down a U.S. U-2 reconnaissance plane and called the flight an aggressive act. They thought since he was close enough they shot a rocket at him they did apologize for it but he was still sent to prison for 10 years. -

In October of 1962 there had been notice of Soviet Missiles in Cuba and this had almost brought the close to nuclear war. This had brought fear to people in the world because they saw that Russia could have taken a lot of control over The World if there was no thought to go to negation.
