  • The Yalta Conference

    The Yalta Conference
    The Yalta conference is where the main allied leaders Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill agreed on what would happen to Berlin and how it would be shared between the countries. They came up with dividing Germany into four occupation zones.
  • The End of World War II

    After America defeated Japan the war ended. Since America and Russia had some conflicts they were now able to just be focused on eachother. This is what led to their conflict.

    Winston Churchill was stating that the Russians have cut off Eastern-Europe from the Western-World and imposed communism on them.

    The war is the start of the conflict between the two super-powers. Both the super powers and fighting but not into a "hot war". This will be the beginning of some conflicts between the Americans and the USSR.

    This indicated that the Allies and the communist side stoped their warfare. But this also started the tension btween the both sides and waiting for the other to strike.
  • The KGB Was Formed

    The KGB where an intelligent agent for the USSR from 1954 to the end of the Cold War. This allowed the Russians to have a better knowledge of what was happening in there empire but a lot of the time.
  • Cuba Taken Over

    Cuba Taken Over
    Cuba had been taken over by Fidel Castro, America was now on alert as Cuba could ask help from China or Russia to launch missles to America.
  • Bay of Pigs

    Bay of Pigs
    America invaded Cuba as they did not trust Castro. If they didn't overthrow him, dangers in the near future will be lurking. Because of this failed invasion, Cuba strengthened their ties with the USSR, which led to the Cuban missile crisis.
  • Berlin Wall Taken Down

    This represented the beginning of the end of the Cold War. Once the wall was broken, people from East Germany were celbrating because they were finally free.
  • The Cold War Ends

    Once the Soviet Union crumbled officially, this marked the end of the Cold War as there was no one to fight. It would have been a great relief for for the countries in NATO as there wasn't a nuclear threat looming.
