What Happened: They talked about dividing Germany into $ and letting specific countries vote.
It decreased liberalism because some countries where given the right to vote. -

What Happened: The cold war started and Stalin admitted that he lied about giving free elections.
it decreased liberalism because the countries that were liberated by the soviets became communist. -
Hiroshima and Nagasaki Bombing

Who: The USA
What Happened: The US dropped a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan to make a statement that they were stronger and to make them surrender.
This increased liberalism because it made japan surrender and was officially the end of WW2. -

What Happened: The Soviet Union created the Molotov plan as a way to provide aid and assistance to other communist countries.

Who: The US
What Happened: When Greece and Turkey had been destroyed there was a 400 million economic and military aid package. it was made to support anti communism.
it affected liberalism because it they were being paid to be liberal but it increased liberalism because it kept the soviets out. -

What happened : A 13 Billion dollar plan was announced to help european countries devastated by war.
It increased liberalism because it helped countries affected by communism. -
Brussels Treaty

Who: Britain, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Belgium.
What Happened: A treaty was signed between these 5 countries so that if one was attacked by the Soviet Union all member countries would assist one another. The US later joined and then it was renamed as NATO.
It increased liberalism because it was a way to defeat the communist and stay protected by other countries in case of an attack. -

What Happened: The soviet Union blocked all resources into allied-controlled Berlin. The US and Britain helped by airlifting food and fuel to west Berlin.

What Happened: The Soviet Union Stated to create nuclear weapons in order to compete against the US
This decreased liberalism because it meant that the communist powers had the same weapons as the capitalist and they were catching up with western technology. -

What happened: The USSR had pushed the 38th parallel and therefore started the Korean war. The US pushed back and this went on back and forth for 3 years where the line ended exactly how it was before the war.
This increased liberalism because even though the USSR wanted to take over all of Korea the US fought back and put things back how they were before. -

What Happened: Stalin was found dead in his office after suffering a stroke and was found later dead on the ground in his puddle of pee.
This increased liberalism because it was seen as the end of reign of Russia and communism decreased after. -

Who: All communist countries
What Happened: It was created to power against NATO after west Germany joined NATO.
it decreased liberalism because some countries were forced to join and it didn't give the same aid that NATO did. -

Who:Capital countries and communist countries
What Happened: The USA and communist vietnam got into war in order to stop communism in Vietnam, but Vietnam ended up driving the USA out of Vietnam. Vietnam was later name socialist Vietnam.
This decreased liberalism because capitalist USA was defeated trying to stop communism. -

Who: Hungary and the USSR
What Happened: The Hungarian citizens decided to revolt against communism and the USSR did not let them and killed thousands and wounded even more. A quarter million fled Hungary.
This decreased liberalism because when they tried to turn from communism the USSR responded with violence and weapons. -

Who: USA and Canada
What Happened: Canada and the US created an Aerospace Defence Command to help with missile warnings in cse of an attack by the communist.
it affected liberalism because it helped keeping people feel and stay safe and protected. -
Take over of Fidel Castro

Who: Fidel Castro
What Happened: Because Cuba was socialist now the US decided to not lend Cuba anymore money and buy their sugar so the USSR decided to step in and join Cuba.
This decreased liberalism because the communist now had cole proximity to the US by having Cuba join them and that could have started a nuclear war. -
Bay of Pigs

Who: The US and Cuba
What Happened: 1500 cuban exiles invaded the bay of pigs and as soon as they set foot in Cuba they were all killed or taken prisoners.
This decreased liberalism because a very critical mission for the US was instantly defeated. -
Creation of the berlin wall

Who: The German Democratic Republic
What Happened: The communist built a wall in the heart of belin to divide the east and the west powers and the east communist wanted to hurt the people in west Germany
This decreased liberalism because it divided people and contained people too almost as if they were prisoners. People who lived in the west couldn't go to the east side and the people in the east couldn't go to the west. -
End of the Cuban Missile Crisis

Who: Kennedy and Nikita Khrushchev
Khrushchev came to an agreement with kennedy that he would remove all missiles from Cuba if he takes his from Turkey. Kennedy agreed and did not attack Cuba.
This Increased liberalism because it meant that cuba no longer had the opportunity to attack the US and and there wouldn't have to be a nuclear war. -

Who:Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, and 40 other signatory states.
What Happened: A treaty was signed between these nation to limit the amount of nuclear bombs allowed by each nation
This increased liberalism because in menat that each nation had a limit to their weapons and that maint every nation had containment. -

What Happened: People in Poland decided to make a protest about solidarity to the point when the countrie went on strike.

What Happened: a group of protestors decided to bring the wall down and when it finally did it symbolized the end of the war.
This increased liberalism because when the wall came down it symbolized the the communist had been beaten and communism was over. -

What Happened: After the berlin wall came down it was very impactful for the cold war, and also when the nuclear treaty was signed it was a impactful statement that the Cold war was over.
