    Policy of containment
    The policy of containment was the policy which caused many events in the cold war to happen. It angered the Russians and almost started a war. The Americans made the policy of containment so that they could stop the Russians growth of communism through Asian and Europe. The Russians felt as if this was an attack on them and it caused great tension between the two superpowers.
  • Berlin Blockade/airlift

    Berlin Blockade/airlift
    It was significant because it was a noticeable sign that the Cold War between the USA and the Soviet Union was real. The other symbolic thing about it was how the USA airlifted food and supplies to East Berlin against the desires of the Soviets. This action could have easily caused another war.
  • Korean War

    Probably not the most important event in the cold war but it was part of the cold war conflict. It is mainly important because the United States did finally stop the spread of communism and today South Korea is democratic. But it is also known as the forgotten war because there were not that may casualties and there was no true winner.
  • Space Race - Sputnik

    The space race was simply a representation of a political battle between two political systems. The U.S. and Soviet Union were the two superpowers of the world with opposing political ideologies.

    The Berlin Wall basically meant that the country of Germany and the Germany’s capital would be split in two named East and West Berlin. It would be later the thing that would spilt the Soviet side from the American, French and British sides. The East was communist, the west was capitalist
  • Cuban Missle Crisis

    The world stood on the brink of nuclear annihilation by blocking the Russian ships carrying missiles to Cuba, the US demonstrated that we would not back down from defending their country against the threat of nuclear attack.
