Our reactions to this were to airlift food, and fuel to Berlin from allied airbases in Western Germany. The result of the airlift consisted of the Americans ruining the Soviet’s plan to hold West Berlin hostage. -

The reason the wall was put up was because the main 4 allied powers didn’t want communism to spread any more and vice versa with Democracy.
