    -He also urged the provision of economic aid to those countries with anti-communist governments. This new foreign policy became known as the Eisenhower Doctrine.

Hoping to find support from the local population, they intended to cross the island to Havana. It was evident from the first hours of fighting that the exiles were likely to lose…the invasion was stopped by Castros army

    • During the 1972 presidential campaign, Nixon created the Committee to Re-elect the President (CREEP). In June 1972, burglars—later found to be employed by CREEP—were caught breaking into Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate office complex in Washington, D.C., to "spy"
    • Nixon vowed that no one in his administration was involved in the break-in but attempts to destroy paperwork and bribe key individuals were soon exposed -Nixon faced impeachment and would resign in 1974
