    The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was created to secure them against the USSR. This was the first military alliance in the US that entered the outside of the WH. The US, Canada, and many other western European nations created this.
  • Berlin Airlift

    Berlin Airlift

    The Soviet forces blockaded some areas of Berlin's railroad and water access. This lasted for a year. The American planes Supplied their over 2 million people with stuff they need since they were not getting anything.
  • Creation of Warsaw Pact

    This warsaw pact was a treaty that established a mutual-defense organization. This was in response of the merging of West Germany of NATO. This put the Soviet in command of the armed forces of the member states.

    The USSR launched the first sputnik (artificial satellite) that orbited the Earth. The launch of this sputnik started the space race. This capsule was 184 lbs.

    The berlin wall was made of barbed wire and concrete. It was built between East and West Berlin. It only took 2 weeks for the police force and construction crew to build. Many people died trying to cross the wall.

    The withdrawal of missiles from Cuba caused this crisis. John F Kennedy had discovered the missiles and did not want the USSR and Cuba to know that he did so he had secret meetings so nobody would find out.Everyone agreed to remove all the missiles they had and that ended this.

    Neil Armstrong was the first human to ever land on the moon. It took them 4 days to get there. He said the surface was powdery and it looked like a horizon with a boulder in the distance. It was 6 and a half hours after he landed on the moon, that he actually stepped foot on it.
