NK who did not have many supplies froze and starved during the winter while SK had warm meals and semi-warm bedding

    was a competition between the us and the soviet union to achieve superior space flight capability.all started when the USSR launched Sputnik the first man-made object to make it to space, launched low radio signals and beacons mostly designed to send a beeping signal. the USSR was winning the space race until it came to the moon, where the USSR could not achieve what the US did in landing the first people on the moon and not just once but around 6 total times.

    a failed attack on Cuba which lasted a total of 3 days. when Castro came to power in '59 the us didn't trust him so when they had the chance to set up an invasion they started training exiled Cubans in '60 for an invasion. was botched though and never made it far with no air superiority and supplies would have been sunk if the US had played a larger role and shown more force it would have been a US victory

    the SED began to seal off the borders around West Berlin first with barbed wires and then with concrete walls, they had hoped this measure would put an end to the mass exodus to Berlin, also wanted to stabilize their power and document its sovereignty ti the outside world, also wanted to keep people from escaping

    The US was drawn into the war by the French believing that if they allowed Vietnam to fall to the Soviets a lot of other nations around them would also fall. The US used cloud seeding which made it rain constantly, along with napalm, and also herbicides would leave brown areas and devastated crops. overall though the US had roughly 58k casualties with 200-250k South Vietnamese losses. meanwhile, the North Vietnamese lost around 1.1million with roughly an additional 1 million civilian casualties.
