    The U.S. used the containment strategy in the early 50's to check the expansion of communism. Communism was one of the biggest fears of the U.S. They attempted to do everything that was in there power to contain it.

    The Marshall Plan was a program that helped damaged European Countries rebuild after the war. The Cold War was very aggressive between the U.S. and the soviets. It ended up causing a lot of major damage to multiple countries. The U.S. chose to help the Europeans rebuild.

    The Truman Doctrine was a document that stated that the U.S. would support Greece and Turkey so they wouldn't fall under the Soviet's influence of Communism. The U.S. tried to prevent communism from spreading as much as they could.

    McCarthyism was a campaign against communists in the US government. This was carried out under Senator Joseph McCarthy in the period 1950–54. In the end it turned out that most did not belong to the Communist government.

    The Berlin Wall was a protected wall that "separated" Berlin from 1961 to 1989. The development of the Wall was started by the Germans August 13, 1961. The Wall blocked off East Germany and East Berlin.

    The Cuban Missile Crisis was an international crisis that took place in October of 1962. The US discovered that Soviet nuclear missiles were being stored in Cuba. President John F. Kennedy demanded their removal and announced a naval blockade of the island. The Soviet leader Khrushchev listened to the U.S. and took down the missiles. Thing could've taken a turn for the worst and started and all out war.

    INF Treaty
    The U.S. feared the missiles that the Soviets were developing. So they decided to make a treaty with the Soviets to take down all the U.S. and the Soviet's ballistic and cruise missiles. This ended up being called the INF treaty.
