    When the Chinese Communist leader enacted the PRC it created a full scale civil war between the CCP and the KMT. This led to the US suspending all ties to the PRC for decades. Global tensions and the threat of the Japanese rose during this time.

    The Marshall plan was a plan signed by President Truman as an Economic relief plan. It was known as the Marshall plan after the Secretary of State, George Marshall. It was put into play to aid Europe and restore their economy after the war.

    The Berlin blockade was one of the starting events of the cold war, being a major crisis. During the blockade the Soviet Union blocked off roadways, canals, and railways from the Western allies. In response, the US had delivered over 1,000,000 tons of food to the people of West Berlin which is where the blockade ended.

    After the Cold War, Germany was divided into four sections by the Soviet Union. Berlin was also separated into four sections. These sections did not incorporate all of prewar Germany but only the new parts.

Throughout the series of battles, Seoul was captured four times and it ended with the Korean Armistice agreement.

    The Cuban revolution was a revolt armed and lead by Fidel Castro. The revolution was against the military dictatorship and didn't end until the rebels finally replaced the government. The Cuban Revolution worked to improve the relationships with other countries and it eventually did.

    The overthrow was of Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh who was in favor of strengthening the rule of Shah. This was planned out by the United States and the United Kingdom together. They paid people to go in from the CIA in order to overthrow him for the people.

    The overthrow of the Guatemalan Government led to the end of the Guatemalan revolution. After the end of the revolution there were many improvements. The coup was criticized around the world.

    The Eastern Bloc was a group of communist States in Europe. The Soviet Union created this by invading and then annexing several countries by agreement with Nazi Germany. Over the next four decades what was known as the Eastern Bloc would remain.

    The Vietnam war was a very long lasting war that was between South Vietnam, North Vietnam, and the United States. During the cold war the Vietnam war was intensified and got even worse. More than 3 million people were killed during the war.

    The Hungarian Revolution began when some college students decided to join the protest about the USSR's domination of Hungary. Some local communist leaders were then captured and killed during this time. After the Warsaw pact it took until about October until the fighting ended.

    The bay of pigs invasion was a failed attempt to put the leader Fidel Castro out of power. The attack was launched by the CIA during President Kennedy's time in office. The reason for the attempt was because Castro was so powerful and such a large threat to the Americans. At one point they even tried to have him assassinated.

    The Berlin wall began to be built from barbed wire and concrete. The purpose of the wall separating East from West Berlin was to keep people living in Western Berlin from entering Eastern Berlin. The United States started sending supplies to West Berlin through airlifts which was being cut off from the rest of the world.

    The Cuban Missile Crisis was a 13 day political and military war between the US and Soviet Union. On television JFK notified Americans about the threat of Cuban missiles in the sky. Later an agreement was made that Cuba would remove their missiles in exchange for the US to not invade Cuba.

    Prague spring was a period of time where there was political liberation and a lot of protests. The reforms were an attempt to provide additional rights to the citizens. These were not received well by the Soviets that sent in tanks and people to fight against the protesters.

    This war was a war where the Soviet Union fought against the DRA and took place mostly in Afghanistan. The war lasted 9 years and utilized guerilla warfare. Between 6-12 percent of Afghanistan's population is believed to have perished during the war.

    During the Tiananmen Square protests in China, which were student led protests, troops armed with guns and tanks fired at the demonstrators. Estimated totals of death range from several hundred to several thousand. The protests were because of the death of pro-reform Chinese Communist Party.

    The Berlin wall was a physical symbol of the "Iron Curtain" which separated East from West Berlin. The Berlin wall was something the whole world knew about and some even flew in to help. Eventually, crowds climbed and crossed the wall all together, causing it to collapse, and marking the end of the cold war.

    The fall of the Soviet Union brought about an end to many different things such as general secretary and its existence as a sovereign state. The USSR was made up of 15 republics but at this time 3 of them declared that the Soviet Union never existed.

    The 9/11 attacks were a series of four suicide terrorist attacks. Two planes attacked the twin towers in New York City, one hit into a field, and one hit the pentagon. After the attacks America had improved their security especially in airports.
