United Nations Formed
Leaders from 50 different countries came together at San Francisco to create the United Nations where they agreed to help maintain peace. -
Truman Doctrine formed
President Harry S. Truman created the Truman Doctrine saying that the US would provide help and support to democratic nations that are being threatened by authoritarian forces. -

10 communist Hollywood screenwriters, editors, and directors who didn’t listen to hearings about anti-communist activities, and were arrested for it. -

NATO formed
NATO was created to provide security and to protect the allies from the Soviet Union. -
Korean War
During the Korean War, North Korea tried to invade South Korea. North Korea was backed by China and the Soviet Union while South Korea was backed by the US. South Korea was able to resist the invasions which led to negotiations being made and a buffer zone was established between North and South Korea (there are still tensions today). -
