  • Beginning of Cold War

    Germany divided into four occupation zones.
  • Berlin Blockade/ Airlift

    The soviets block entry from West Germany. This was an attempt to stop the growth of the capitalist country, the Americans respond by putting their supplies in planes and flying it into West Germany. 1948- 1949.
  • Vietnam War

    A war between Vietnam and the U.S. for different parts of southeast Asia. End result was complete communist takeover in Vietnam in 1975.
  • Berlin Wall

    The Berlin Wall was a wall that divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989. Constructed by the German Democratic Republic. Divided Berlin right in the middle. Wall kept people from moving West Berlin to East Berlin. 1961- 1989
  • Cuban missile crisis

    Considered climax of Cold war, was between Soviet Union and US. Was a stand off between JFK and Nikita Krushcher ame closer to a nuclear war than ever before. Ended October 28, 1962
  • Glasnot/ Perestroika

    Policies that effected economic government and politically. To have citizens be more envolved with politics and allow small businesses to grow by themeselves. These policies helped the Soviet Union to fall. Ended December 25, 1991
  • Fall of Communism/ Soviet Union

    The presidents of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus signed the Belavezha Accords, Soviet Union destroyed and established the Commonwealth of Independent States over the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union was gone and the Cold War was over.
