Korean War Ends
In the summer of 1953, the fighting in Korea ended. Both sides signed a treaty to put up a demilitarized zone on the borders. This means that both sides can meet up together without any weapons or violence. -
Berlin Wall
In 1961, Eastern and Western Europe split apart from each other and built a wall on the border. The Eastern side was occupied underneath Capitalism. The Western side was under control by Communism. -
The Space Race
This race was between the two rivals the USSR and the US. They were testing to see which country had better space capability. The only way they had to travel into space was by using ballistic missiles. The USSR was leading the race at first, but the US won when they were the first to reach the Moon. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban Missile Crisis was when the Soviet Union sent missiles to set up in Cuba to launch in the US in case of an emergency. They were taken out a few years later after the US took the missiles out of Turkey.
