    In 1945, just as WWII was about to end, the world had wanted to keep peace, so representatives of 50 countries had gathered at the United Nations Conference to create an international peace organization, known as the United Nations, to prevent another world war.

    10 film celebrities announced the evil tactics behind Hollywood's influence on TV. They had been put in jail and were banned from working with Hollywood. Other members of the film industry that had ties with communists were also banned from working in the film industry.

    On March 31, 1947, President Truman made a doctrine that would provide no military or economic support to the Greek Government to fight the Greek Communist Party. He was worried that the Greek Communists would influence the Soviet Union.

    This war started when the people of north Korea crossed the 38th parallel border. America intervened because they were trying to stop the spread of communism. 5 million soldiers and civilians lost their lives from the war.
  • Bay of Pigs

    This was an unsuccessful attack initiated by the CIA to take Cuban Leader, Fidel Castro, out of power in 1961. On April 17, 1961, the CIA sent an attack in Cuba but it failed because they were outnumbered by the Cuban troops.

    The German Democratic Republic Communist government had built a concrete wall with barbed wire known as the "antifascist bulwark" in between east and west Berlin. The intended purpose was to keep out "Western fascists". This lasted until November 9, 1989 when the East German Communist Party announced that the people of GDR could cross whenever. Many came to knock it down with hammers.

    The Vietnam war started in the 1950s. The US joined the war because they were afraid that communism would be spread. They provided aid to Vietnam, too. Because of the US joining the war, there were protests opposing the US being involved in the war.
  • Soviets invade Afganistan

    At midnight on December 24, 1979, the Soviets invaded Afghanistan. In a couple days they had captured Kabul. Resistance fighters, called mujahidin, were given permission to shoot down the Soviets, as they thought that the Soviets were a threat to their religion. The Soviets withdrew from the war in 1988.
