Logan Forbes has moved into an old house that has alot of history in it. It is located in Bealseville, Virginia. -

Logan is a 13 year old boy going into the 7th grade at Middle School. He meets up with another boy called Aurther Jenkins who is 12 years old and also going to the middle school. Arthur is skinny, wears glasses that are taped together and he lives next door with his grandmother Darla Jenkins. -

Then there is Violet who is married to Silas Phelps and they have a son named Danny. Violet is Ms. Donaldsons daughter. Silas is a man that comes from trouble and has just recently gotten out of jail. Danny has a real bully attittude and does not like Arthur or Logan. -

There is a pizza guy who is named Johnny Oniell and he has offered to help out the Forbes by cleaning up the old yard and the inside of the house. -

Mrs. Baily who works in the local library. And there is Nina Stevens who is an undercover reporter for the times investigating the unsolved murder of Mrs. Donaldson and the missing millions tha was embezzled from the Magic Forest Park. -

Mr. DiSilvio has a son Anthony and is a very important person in Bealesville. But he has a corrupt side that no one knows, he is a criminal and is dangerous. He is the current owner of the old Magic Forest Park. He plans to tear it down and sell it to developers. -

Arthur fills Logan in about the past history of his new house. He tells Arthur anout Ms. Donaldson who lived there and she was murdered and no one was ever found guilty. His grandma is the one who found Ms. Donaldson at the bottom of her steps all bloody. She had a black mutt by the name of Bear. Bear now lives with me and grandma he says, but he also spends alot of time at your house we think waiting for Ms. Donaldson to come home. -
Rising Action
Arthur and Logan are determined to solve the unsolved murder mystery of Mrs. Donaldson. Along with solving her murder they will also find the embezzled millions of dollars from the old run down Magic Forest. -
Silas
There were rumors that Silas, her son on law killed her for the money. He had a bad track record. He was very abusive to his family and is not liked by many. His son Danny is a real bully. -
Sites of Bealsville
Arthur shows Logan the sites of Bealsville while they are out on a bikeride. They first come to the local library where Arthur gets Logan to sign up for a library card.Then Arther asks Mrs. Baily to get them the local newspapers on the day that they found Mrs. Donaldson dead. -
Mrs. Donaldson
Mrs. Donaldson was the old ticket taker at Magic Forest for many years. There was also rumors that there were large ammounts of mone taken from the park, but there was no evidence that she was involved and they never found anything linking her to it after her death. -
Reporter?
Arthur and Logan encounter a lady by the name of Nina Stevens. She claims to be a reporter for the times. She is in town and needs to get all the information that she can on the murder and the missing money. She depends on the boys to give her some information. -
Climax
While snooping aroung in Logans attic the boys stumble on what they think is the key to finding the murderer and the money!They find a small plastic bag containing a note written by Mrs. Donaldson and some plastic colored gingerbread men. The note was written to violet the daughter. -
The note
In the note she tells Violet about a game when she was little that they used to play..the finding game. Violet remembers the game and in the last line of the note it states to not be afraid and do not tell Silas. -
Maps
Arthur and Logan decide that they need to go to the library and get a map of the amusment park They have plans to meet with Violet after she gets off work at Walmart and venture to the old park to find the last gingerbread peice. There was one peice missing and they think she buried the case at the last gingerbread man. -
Meeting at Walmart
The boys decide that they will sneak out at 11 pm to meet Violet in the parking lot. When they arrive she is not there only her car. It is dark and they know that something is wrong. They come in contact with Danny who is also looking for his mother. He knows that his father is up to no good, so they all 3, with the dog venture to the old amusment park. It is dark and the kudzu is growing wild. -
resolution
The boys all follow the map of the park straight to the gingerbread trail. At the end of the gingerbread trail is the witches house. That is why Mrs. Donaldson in her note said, to not be afraid. It was so scary. They found the case buried in the ground.They hear voices and it is Silas, Violet and to there surpirse Mr.DiSilvio!!!! -
Darkness and guns!!!
To the boys surprize Mr. DiSilvio has a gun and is threatening to use it. He tells Violet to give him the case!She tells the boys to go and run and do not give him the case. -
the end
The best news was that since Mr. DiSilvio was the current owner of the park, all destruction has stopped. The park remains as is and intact because he is in jail. The town is happy and so are the boys starting middle school as heros!! -
Mystery solved
To the boys surprize Nina shows up holding a police badge in her hand. Everyone is arrested and she explains to the boys why she had to have them separated. They were interfering with her case. Arthur tell her she needs to tell Mrs. Forbes the truth so that he can hang out again with Logan. After everyone is arrested and the money is found the boys become the local town heros, they are no longer the nerds that everyone has picked on.
