    The confederacy officially forms under Jefferson Davis. They called themselves "The Confederate States of America."

  • Fort Sumter attacked

    Fort Sumter is attacked by the Confederate Army. They were searching for supplies and no one was injured. Marked the official beginning of the war.

  • War of Attrition

    The Union Army makes this a war of attrition. They have more soldiers so they use this as their strategy.

  • Battle of Shiloh

    The Confederacy starts this battle, however, the Union Army wins.

  • 2nd Battle of Bullrun

    This marks the second battle at Bullrun. This time the Confederacy wins.

  • Battle of Antietam

    This marks the Battle of Antietam. Antietam was the bloodiest one day battle in U.S. History.

  • Emancipation Proclaimation

    This marks the Emancipation Proclaimation given by President Lincoln. This freed all enslaved slaves in rebeling states.

  • The Gettysburg Address

    This marks the Gettysburg Address. Lincoln commemorated the Battle of Gettysburg into a public speech.

  • The Appomattox Surrender

    General Lee was forced to surrender by General Ulysses S. Grant. The Union has officially won the war.

  • Lincoln's Assisination

    President Lincoln was assisinated. he was shot in the back of the head by John Wilkes Both while attending a play at Ford's Theatre.
