    John Brown led a raid to take weapons from a weapon port and kill white slave owners to free slaves. Not far into the raid he and his men were captured and hung for murder.

The North voted for Abe and the South wanted John Breckenridge to be the president because he was in favor of slavery and the south was nervous that if Abe became president he would abolish slavery. Lincoln won by a landslide and became the president of the United States of America.

    This was the battle that marked the beginning of the civil war. The confederates fired on the fort when the North refused to give the fort to the south. The North had to surrender after about 34 hours. Nobody was killed during this battle.

It also made the North realize that the battle wouldn't be an easy win. This was the battle when people decided to have a picnic on a hill to watch the battle because they thought it would be easily won.
