    This was the deciding battle of the Civil War which basically means it would decide who had more power whether it be man power or weaponry. Confederate Victory.
  • Battle of Antietam

    Took place in Washington County, Maryland and is known as the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. Union Victory.
  • Battle of Fredricksburg

    This was the battle of the Civil War that actually made people realize that the war was going to be long and costly. Confederate Victory.
  • Battle of Chancellorsville

    Union: Joseph Hooker
    Confederate: Stonewall Jackson/Robert E. Lee
    Lasted from April 30-May 6. Stonewall Jackson was mortally wounded in this battle. This battle also stopped an attmepted flanking movement by Hooker's Army.
  • Battle of Vicksburg

    Confederate: John C. Pimberton
    Lasted from May 18 - July 4. The Confederate also surrrendered at this battle which made it one of the biggest Union wins. Union Victory.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    Confederate: Robert E. Lee
    This was the major turning point in the Civil War. Union Victory.
  • Sherman's March

    Union: William Sherman
    Confederate: P.G.T. Beauregard
    Lasted from November 15 - December 21. This battle led to the capturing of Charleston and the war ending. Union Victory.
  • Appomattox

    Lee surrendered his army. Union Victory.
