This helped cause the civil war because it had a hand in making states like Virginia have large populations and made them have more representatives. -
Missouri Compromise
This helped cause the war because it made people think they had to keep the balance and no slave states other than Missouri could pass the 36 degree and 30' north. -
Annexation of Texas
When Texas was annexed into the U.S. The north thought it should be a free state and the south thought it should be a slave state but Texas said it wanted to be a slave state this throwing power out of balance once again. Texas was a main support of slaves during the Civil War. -
Mexican War
This could be another main contribtor to the Civil War due to putting the thought of war and withdrawing from the U.S. into the minds of many. -
Fugitive Slave Act
This act made many Northerns mad for watching free men and women drug back to the South even though some where free and proved that the South only cared about they're slaves. -
Compromise of 1850
This Compromise wasn't followed much and mad many Southerns mad as the North didn't even try to follow there part and by trying to outlaw slavery in the new states. -
Harriet Beecher Stowe
Harriet Beecher Stowe had written the book "Uncle Tom's Cabin" which mad many Northerns believe that all Southerns treated their slaves badly and served to make the Southerns mad because some did not treat their slaves this way, which protrayed the south in a bad light. -
John Brown's Raid
This Raid made by john brown was meant to allow slaves raise up and try to overthrow their masters which failed. This Horrified and Enraged the South causing them to be even more weary. It has been said to be the one act that truly started the Civil War and got the ball rolling down that path. -
Election of Lincoln
When Lincoln was Elected as President the Southern states started to withdraw from the U.S. and this the start of the Civil War Began.
