    This movement is from the Methodism Christians and takes away some usual traditions. This movement was to ensure Christians that they can have a life free of sin.
  • The Start

    The Church of God in Christ started in 1897. It was formed by religious communion Baptist ministers. This is where the Holiness originates from. Everything was influenced by the testimony of African Americans.
  • Churches of the name Christ of God in Christ or COGIC

    1910- 1913 Elder H. A Goss and Elder Leonard P. Adams came under the authority and agreement to establish churches in the name of COGIC
  • Death of Bishop Mason

    Who is Bishop Mason? Bishop Mason was an original minister who started the idea of COGIC. When he passed every state in America and even some foreign countries knew about COGIC.
  • COGIC International

    During this time Bishop Patterson was president of COGIC and during this time COGIC gained membership in the Congress of National Black Churches. As well as COGIC became a major force in the collective Black Church and worldwide.
  • Record

    Church of God in Christ had 5.5 million members in 60 countries around the world making that a record for new people joining the concept of holiness.
  • Bishop Shepard

    Bishop Shepard started foundations like "I Love My Church" to help raise money to pay off debts to different churches and provided for those less fortunate.
