    The baby is about the size of a kidney bean,but around this time in the pregancy some of the vital organs are beginning to develop.     Hands and feet are developing although they look more like paddles at this point. Your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is her tailbone.     Some things the baby is doing during week 11 are growing hair follicles, fingernails, and ovaries. She now has hands and feet in front of her body, with ears nearly in their final shape, open nasal passages on the tip of her tiny nose, a tongue in the mouth, and visible nipples.

    The baby now has devolped facial features, such as a chin, nose, their facial profile, tooth buds. Their brain has fully devolped. Their vocal chords are now complete and they at times cry silently. The baby's eye lids are closed and will be until 7 months to protect the optical nerve. The fingers and toes have devloped soft nails and delicate hairs are beginning to grow on their heads. The baby's head makes up about half of the fetus size.

    The baby's chest now moves up and down to mimic breathing and their blood vessels are now visible through their thin skin. The ears are now in final position and they can hear. The baby’s nervous system continues to become more refined and detailed in development. They are begining to build a prtoective wax layer of skin. The fetus is now inches long and 7 ounces.

    Her brain is growing rapidly, taste buds have fully developed, and her footprints and fingerprints are continuing to form. The baby is covered with a fine, soft hair and now weighs about 1.3 pounds and is about 12 inches long. The lungs are developing branches of the respiratory tree. They are also forming cells that produce surfactant which is a substance that helps the air sacs inflate easily and also keeps the air sacs from collapsing.

    Although his lungs won't be fully developed until just before birth, The baby is busy inhaling amniotic fluid to exercise his lungs. The fetus can now suck his thoumb. They now have the amount of hair they will come out of the womb with. The baby's skin becomes soft and smooth as it plumps out before birth. Their bones are now fully devloped but are still soft.
