Chernobly Disaster
Th event of the Chernobly Nucelear Disaster took place. It realease as much a 100x the radiation levels as the the Hiroshima and Nagasaki (bombs the hit Russia from previous wars) bombing comnined. It was reported that 31 people died and 200 became sick from radiation. http://goo.gl/GsJuH -
World Is Informed
The world found out about the Chernobly incident when a Swedish nuclear plant, only about 800 miles away from the initial Chernobly disaster, detected extremmely high amounts of radiation in the air. The Soviet Union was very quick about the disaster because they didn't feel that it was very serious, but they soon took blame and alertaed the world the there was meltdown in the core of one of the Chernobly reactors.

Closed Down
The Chernobly power plant was closed down in 2000 by the Ukranian goverment after and agreement between Ukranian president Leonid Kuchma, and US president Bill Clinton. The Ukranian government has promised to never use Chernobly for energy ever again. http://goo.gl/GsJuH

Who was hurt?

Swedish Study
The Sweden government claimed that the Chernobly disaster cause an effect on Northern Sweden. They said that the radation was linked to 849 various cases of cancer, -

Open for Tourist
The Ukranian government has allowed tourism to some parts of the Chernobyl nuclear plant. A spokes woman commented that they welcome about 6,000 tourist a year. http://goo.gl/TavVM, -
Geographic Picture Comparison
The to the left is a comparison of Chernobly 5 days after the disaster to 25 years later. The picture that is furtherest left is one that was taken 5 days after the explosion. You can see dense forset that is shown in the dark green color. The blue and purple represent small communities living near there. In the 2011 picture the dense forest have been replanted with new trees which is now light green. Most of the blue and purple colors that depicted the villages are gone. http://goo.gl/EQguP -
Ukraine Declared Safe
Ukraine nuclear saftey officals have declared the immediate villages around Chernobly are habitable. They can be used for agriculture not involving food and are open for habiataion but the law remains that still makes the area inhabitable. http://goo.gl/GsJuH

Roof Collapses
The roof of the bulding of the Chernobly diaster Reactor Number Four. Officals say it was due to snow piling on the roof. No one was hurt and commented that it was part of the old sturcture not the new part they are bulding were the explosion took place. They are assuring spectators that the collapes did nothing to the radation levels and everything is safe.
