    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was imposed on the colonists from the the british, to help pay fro the 10,000 troops being stationed on the American Frontier. It taxed every peice of paper made by the colonists. This was more of a messege to the colnists, so they were greatly angered.

    The Colonists were very angry about thre Stamp Act. In response, they became very violent. Lead by the "Sons of Liberty", people were violent and became very destructive. So the British poeple who collected the taxes became intimidated and some of the taxes were never collected.

    The gaspee was a ship that docked in warwick. A group of fifty five men went and captured the ship and it's captain duddington. They abandoned the men and made them watch the ship burn.

    In each colony, there was a Committee of Corespondence. The Committees would talk to eachother about Great Britain.

    The British had stopped taxing the colonists on everything except for tea. This angered the colonists very much. As a result, people dressed up as mohawk indians and snuck onto 3 british ships. They threw 45-tons of tea into Boston harbor. They called themselves "Sons of Liberty".

    After the Boston tea Party, Britain was greatly angered. In response, they passed a series of laws to the colonists. This included the Quarterinbg Act, Boston Port Bill, Administration of Justice Act, Massachusetts Government Act, and the Quebec Act.

    The Quebec Act was part of the series of acts passed by the Coercive Acts. Passed by Britain, they wanted to seize control of the area knows as Quebec. Eventually they did this, but it angered alot of Colonists that wanted that land.

    King George issued this proclamation after the battles of lexington and concord. It basically told the colonies they were going to be punished and authorized to sever penalty.

    The Continetal Congress was made up of delagates from each of the 13 colonies except for Georgia. They all met in Philidalphia to talk about Great britain and what they were goign to do. Different colonies had different opinions but for the most part they agreed to go against Great Britain.

    The British sent 700 troops to destroy the colonists amunition in concord. The British shot and killed 8 men while injuring 10 in lexington, while they were on their way to Concord.

    The British were leaving Boston either by foot or boat. So, Paul Revere found out they were leaving by sea becasue 2 lanters were lit in the church belfry. He rode his horse all through Massachusetts to warn people that the British were coming.

    Again, representatives from all 13 colonies came to Philidalphia to talk about the next step. They established the New England militia as the Continental Army. it was also decided that George Wasington would lead the Cntinental Army.

    Right after George Washington was apointed general, the British planned on atacking Bunker Hill. So the British brought 2,600 men to fight against 1,600 men. The battle was actually fought on breeds Hill, which was right next to Bunker Hill. The british ended up winning and taking it over.

    During the second continental congress meeting, George Washington was appointed general of the army. He was appointed becasue of his military experience and hopes that a guy from virginia could unite the colonies. Helead the Army for 8 strong years.

    This Petition was sent to the King from the colinists. it basically said that we have rights as colonists. However, we are still loyal to you. The King refused to read this petition. It was made by John Dickinson.

    The patriots attacked British troops stationed in Virginia. The briths troops had nothing to do, so they pulled out of Virginia and left the colonists in control.

    Common Sense was published by Thomas Paine. This peice of work was a direct indication that the colonies wanted independance from Britain.

    Washington gave orders to John Thomas too take 800soldiers and 1,200 workers to Dorchester Heights. There they would set up there fort. The British were planning on using their ships but an aweful storm appeared. which forced the British to flee to Nova Scotia.
