  • Economic Depression of Germany

    When the stock market crashed in October 1929, Germany was extremely affected because it was very much built up on America. Plus that, they also had $30 million from World War 1 in war damages and they printed too much money so it became devalued. It was a cause of war because it was then when Hitler became recognized and stepped up into leadership.

  • Rise of Hitler

    The rise of Adolf Hitler was a major cause of war because he was able to get so much power and had so many people persuaded. In March 1933, he held an election to get the Nazi party majority which happened only after he had 81 Communist deputies arrested. He gave so many people hope through his many promises so they supported him. However, when other countries saw his actions they hated him and declared war on him.

  • Appeasement; Germany in Rhineland

    Rhineland was a demilitarized zone that Germany had but they were unable to bring troops into it, stated on the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler marched 32,000 soldiers and armed police into Rhineland, violating the treaty for the second time. France could have easily defeated Germany but did nothing. It was a cause of war because it was allowing Hitler to invade land without being stopped, so he continued. He was testing his limits, to see just how far the Allies would let him go.

  • Appeasement; Germany and Austria

    On March 22th, 1938 Germany joined with Austria, again violating the Treaty of Versailles. Britian and France again sat back and did nothing. It was a cause of war because it was allowing Germany to expand its empire without being stopped by anyone. It again, let Hitler do whatever he wanted and keep taking over nations.

  • Invasion of Poland

    Germany invaded Poland on September of 1939; however Britain and France were allies with Poland. Britain and France decided that they needed to intervene and gave Germany a chance to withdraw. Hitler refused to leave making Britain and France declare war. It was a major cause because if Germany wouldn't have invaded Poland or withdrew, Britain and France wouldn’t’ have got defensive and wanted to fight against Germany.
