    The Treaty of Versailles ended World War I with Germany signing the treaty and taking responsibility for causing the war. Germany agreed as the antagonist and was forced to pay for all war damages which left them millions of dollars in debt. They also had the power to occupy troops in Rhineland for 15 years after the war ended .

Hitler was fond of Mussolini before Hitler lead Germany into war, and this brough their relationship closer and made it easy for Hitler to influence Italy later in the war.
