    Treaty of Versailles
    The treaty or Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919. This treaty states that Germany accepts all blame for causing World War 1, and they had to pay for damage. This caused Germany to have an economic depression. This treaty was very significant because it caused germany to turn on the Jewish population. Germans blamed Jews for the war, and this led to the holocaust.

    Hitler Joins Nazi Party
    Hitler joined the Naiz Party in September of 1921. This is significant because it was the start of Hiler's rise. This was first step in him becoming a dictator. Hitler began to gain credibility, and made many public speeches about his plans for Germany. He gained support on his criticsm of the German government and the treaty of versailles.
  • Hitler Becomes Dictator of Germany

    Hitler Becomes Dictator of Germany
    In March of 1933, Hitler becomes the dictator of Germany. Germany was suffering an economic depression, and Hitler promised to improve condiotions. The conditions were rough and Hitler gave hope to the German people, so they supported him. Hitler also promised to regain power.

    Germany Leaves League of Nations
    The league of nations focuses on collective security, so that if one country in the league is attacked, the other countries would join the fight. Germany began to see this as a problem, since they wanted more land and power. Hitler decided to leave the league of nations, and build up Germany's military, showing he was preparing to take over more land.

    Germany Sends troops to Rhineland
    German troops are sent to the boarder of France and Germany to attepmt to take over more land. This goes against the Treaty of Versialles, and shows Germany wants land so bad that they are willing to go against their treaty. France and Britian do nothing in response.

    Germany Joins With Austria
    Once again, Germany went against the treaty of Versailles and joins with Austria, who had a powerful Nazi party. Hitler annexed Germany with Austria, strictly against the Treaty of Varsailles. Other countries saw this as a threat because Germny would now have a larger army if they attacked. The joining also provoked France and Britian.

    The Night of Broken Glass
    Germans were furious at the Jews because a German official had been kiled in Pais because of a Jewish boy. Nazi's burned over 250 synagogues, and trashed almost 7000 Jewish buisnesses. This was a further public display of Hitlers opinions of Jews. Hitler continued to treat them unfair and blame them for all of Germany's problems.

    Hitler Takes Over Czechoslovakia
    Hitler had made a deal with France and Britian in september of 1938, that he would not take over any more land, if they allowed him to take over part of Czechoslovakia. Hitler went ahead and ignored this deal, and took over the rest of Czechoslovakia. France and Britian are humiliated and are getting more and more angry with Germany for breaking their promise.
  • Germany Invades Poland

    Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. This was the final straw for France and Britian. Germany had shown that they were serious about taking over land, so France and britin fought back. Britian and France told Germany to withdraw from Poland or they would declare war. Germany denied, and the second world war started 2 days later.

    Britian and France Declare war on Germany on Sepember 3 1939. After Germany invaded Poland, Britian and France know something must be done, and that Germany can't keep invading countries as they please. This is the start of World War 2.
