    Charles Darwin's Education
    Charles was taken out of Shrewsbury school to attend Edinburgh University with his older brother Erasmus in order for him study medicine. Due to the fact that Charles could not handle the sight of blood, he began to study natural history instead of medicine. His father did not like this idea and made him transfer to Cambridge University to study clergyman. (p 19-20)

    While at Cambridge University he was becoming a naturalist. He later befriended professor John Henslow who suggested that Darwin study geology which Darwin decided to do. (p 21-22)
  • Sailing

    Charles was invited to sail on the Beagle and on December 27th he began his voyage. From now till 1836 his career as a scientist was established.(p 20-22)
  • The Origin of Species

    Charles Darwin begins to write the book “The Origin of Species”. This book is his most popular, but he had been writing other articles and became a well know scientist long before writing this book. (p 36)
  • Natural Selection

    Darwin publishes On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection or Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life. In this book, Darwin comes up with “the struggle for existence” meaning that difference species complete to survive. He writes about natural selection. (p 36)
  • Adding to The Origin of Species

    Adding to The Origin of Species
    A second edition of “The Origin of Species” was published. And a year later a third edition was published in April. In his books he explains that species are different from one another within their population, they get their traits from their parents, the ones with strong traits survive, and then they pass these traits along to their children.

    Darwin was becoming very well know for his theory and even received Copley Medal of the Royal Society. (p 37)
  • DNA

    DNA
    An articled called “A structure for Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid” was written by James Watson and Francis Crick in regards to them discovering DNA. This was really important for scientist because they were able to begin linking the connections between genes and mutation. By discovering this, an explanation for why genes were altered which began helping to explain Darwin’s theory. Today we still use Darwin’s theory to explain the life that lives on Earth. (p 78)
