    This riot resulted in many injuries. Personnel and citizens of the Omaha Police Department, including the attempted hanging of Mayor Edward Parsons Smith.

    This all started because so many people were killed in war. This is about the same time that the dust bowl hit.

    The dust bowl was caused from a drought. The wind would pick up causing the dirt and sand to pick up.

    Got shot in the back of the head. Going to a speech in Texas.
  • UNL Students protest the Vietnam War

    UNL Students protest the Vietnam War
    Almost 9,000 students participated in a protest march against the ROTC's presence on campus and their support of a conflict that many of them disapproved of. African American football players organized a brief players' strike in December of that year in response to their coach's racial harassment.
  • End of the Cold War

    Communism was overthrown in every country in eastern Europe thanks to the fall of the Berlin Wall, open borders, and democratic elections. The Soviet Union itself broke up into its constituent countries in late 1991. The Cold War ended abruptly with the lifting of the Iron Curtain.
