  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The English Parliament passed the Sugar Act. This was an act passed that taxed sugar, molasses, and other things like that that was imported from England. This act wass passed April 5, 1764. It was passed in the thirteen colonies. It was passed because England wanted to gain more money from the colonies so they put taxes on things like sugar and molasses because a lot of people always bought that so they gained more money from them by putting taxes on them.
  • Commitees of Correspondence

    Commitees of  Correspondence
    The thirteen colonies came up with the first institution for the thirteen colonies for maintaning communication and sharing ideas about the new British laws and ways to challenge them. It was created in 1764 and created in the thirteen colonies. It was created it so that they could get in touch with other towns and discuss how to challenge the new British laws so they could find a way to deny them.
  • Stamp Act of 1765

    This act was passed by the English Parliament that required colonists to pay for an official stamp, or seal, when they bought paper items. It was passed in 1765 and it was passed in the thirteen colonies. The Stamp Act was created so that the British could make even more money of the colonies by taxing them on paper items that they mail.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    The English Parliament passed these acts that placed duties on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. The Townshend Acts were passed in June 1767. It was passed in the colonies. The acts were passed because England took away from colonial governments and they wanted to gain more money from the colonies by earning extra by taxing them.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was started by a British soldier standing guard had an argument with a colonist and struck him. This broke out into the colonists and soldiers started shooting at eachother and five died. Colonist called this the Boston Massacre. This happened March 5, 1770.
  • Sons of Liberty

    Sons of Liberty
    Samuel Adams helped organize this grup which was a secret society that protested against the Stamp Act . They used to also sometimes use violence to frighten tax collectors. It was formed around the year of 1773. It was created because colonists were angry about all the taxes on paper items so they tried to protest.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act allowed British East India Company to sell tea directly to the colonists. This act was passed by the English Parliament in 1773. It was passed because they thought if they sold cheaper tea they might be able to stop colonist from smuggling it.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    This was when a group of colonists disguised themselves as Indians and sneaked onto the three tea-filled ships and dumped over 340 tea chests into Boston Harbor. This was done on December 16, 1773. It was done because colonial merchants and smugglers thought it would put them out of business so they decided to do something about it.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    These acts were passed in the spring of 1774 by the English Parliament passed the Coercive Acts. Colonists called these laws the Intolerable Acts. These acts were when the Parliament decided to punsih Boston because the British prime minister was furious when he heard the news about the Boston Tea Party
  • First Continental Congress-

    First Continental Congress-
    This was a gathering that took place in 1774 of colonial leaders who were deeply troubled about the relationship between Great Britain and its colonies in America. It took place because they tried to talk about the closing of Boston Harbor and they made a meeting to talk about it.
