    Washington Inaugurated 1st US president
    George Washington was unanimously elected for the first president of the united states. His vice president was Jhn Adams. His inauguration was held in New York City in 1789. Some of his precedents were;Neutrality in Foreign Affairs and 2-term Presidency.
  • Jay's treaty is signed.

    Jay's treaty is signed.
    A treaty that america used to show that they were neutral. Also, an Agreement that ended the dispute with Britain over American shipping during the French Revolution. It was needed because America didn't want to go to war, so they signed it to be neutral.
  • John Adams elected 2nd president of the United States.

    John Adams becomes America's Second President. His vice president was Thomas Jefferson. Adams' belonged to the federalist party. One thing that made his presidency a failure was when he passed the Alien Sedition Acts.

    The XYZ Affair was an incident in 1798, during a period when French privateers were regularly seizing U.S. merchant ships. President John Adams sent emissaries to France to negotiate . They were met by three French agents who identified themselves as X,Y and Z and demanded a substantial bribe for access to the French minister. Americans were outraged.

    Americans purchase the Louisiana Territory from France. At the time, the emperor of France was Napoleon Bonaparte. The US only wanted to buy New Orleans but the french made an offer they couldn't refuse. They bought the whole Louisiana Territory for about $15 Million.
  • The Lewis and Clark Expedition.

    The Lewis and Clark Expedition.
    It was the first American expedition to cross the Western part of the United States. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark went with a crew, exploring. The purpose was to explore all of the land gained from the Louisiana purchase. The leader was the geographic genius Sacagewia. 5 of the American Landscapes were; The Rocky Mountains, Great Plains, The Ohio River, the Columbia River and the Platte River.

    The Embargo act was a law that forbade American ships from sailing to foreign ports and closed american ports to british ships. This policy harmed the United States more than France or Britain. It was passed because the American Officials didn't want anymore ships to be seized. It was not successful because the British did not respond accordingly to the embargo.

    The battle was fought between between United States forces led by Governor William Henry Harrison of the Indiana Territory and Native American warriors associated with the Shawnee leader Tecumseh. The result was that the Native American movement lost some of its power.

    The War of 1812 was conflict between the United States and the United Kingdom. 2 causes of the war are The British practice of impressment. They would regularly stop American ships and force the men to serve in the British Navy, The Americans felt that the British were encouraging the Native Americans leading to violence such as the Battle of Tippecanoe.The president of the Unites states during this time was James Madison. Some of the battles were Battle of Julia and the American West.

    Battle of New Orleans; Treaty of Ghent Signed.
    It was the Final and Major Battle of The War Of 1812. American forces, commanded by Major General Andrew Jackson, defeated an invading British Army, under General Edward Pakenham. Some effects of the war of 1812 were/are Increased American patriotism, Weakened Native Americans resistance, U.S. manufacturing grew.I belive it was a very important war. It showed that America and Britian are and were both strong.
