  • United Nations Formed

    The UN was created to replace the league of nations which was suppose to maintain peace but failed. The UN was created after WW2 to help maintain peace and to stop from another war like WW2, to date the UN stands as to keep peace amongst the world. Had the UN not been created nations may not easily settle their issues by talking and war may have rissen very quickly.
  • The cold war starts

    The cold war is the face off between America and the USSR which began with the USSR trying to spread communism and America trying to stop it. Which led to great tension as each nation tried to get the upper hand in case war began with each other. The war came to its highest point during the cuban missile crisis when nuclear war came to the closest point of occurring.
  • India gains independance from Britrain

    Before India was controlled by Britain but after many hardships, struggles and protests they won their indendance and freedom. This day marked a great achievement for India because they had the freedom they had wanted for so long since when Britain first took power. Without their independance India may not have ended up how it is today.
  • Marshall Plan

    The Marshall Plan was a plan deployed by the US government to help the European nations to return to what they once were before WW2. Since America was the least effected by the war because no battles took place on American soil America enacted this plan to help Europe. This plan was used to help rebuild, better the economy and aid Europe over all. Had this plan not been placed Europe may not be what it is today and would have recovered very slowly.
  • NATO is created

    NATO was created in response to the cold war out of fear of invasion by the USSR. NATO is an allinace that includes many of the western nations and is ment for defensive purposes and to keep peace. If one nation who is in NATO is attack the others must help defend them against the outside force. NATO was created during the cold war so if one nation was attack by the USSR there would be support, this organization has helped maintain peace across the globe.
  • Communists take over China

    Mao Zedong was the leader of the communist revolution in China which would lead to the communists taking full control of China. Before China was in control by the Republic of China which led to a civil war which pushed the Republic to Taiwain and allowed Communism to take full control of China.
  • North Korea Attacks South Korea

    Korea was once a single nation but was divided after WW2, America took control of the south and the Soviets took the North this led to both being exposed to different forms of governments. The North became communist and the south became a right winged government, this led to fighting and eventually led to all out war between them. Then the war reached a stalemate and continues to this date, the is war shows the importance and the lengths leaders of different government types will go to.
  • Stalin Dies

    Stalin was once one of the leaders of the Bolsheviks in the Russian Revolutions and then the leader of Soviet Russia until he died due to a stroke. He was discovered after 1 day in his room and lookked like he had suffered from a stroke and he died from it days later. He had led the soviets during WW2, part of the cold war and tried to spread communism to increasse his power. His death marked an end to his rule and abusive power which devastated Russia.
  • Russia launches Sputnik

    Sputnik was the first AI leunched into space, it was launched by the USSR and was what triggered the space race between America and the US. The launching of the Sputnik was a great accomplishment because before man was confined to Earth but after we were able to explore space. This was the first greatest leap to venture out and explore space man had done which would lead to further great attempts.
  • Fidel Castro takes power

    Fidel Castro was the leader of revolutionaries in Cuba who wanted to remove the president from power. He took power in 1959 and since then became the dictator of Cuba, after he took power, in 1962 he was involved in the Cuban missile crisis. After he took power Castro chnaged Cuba from what it had been and worsened some of the relationships it had with outside countries.
  • Kennedy`s Assassination

    John F Kennedy was the 35th US president, he was in office during the Cold War, Space Race and the vietnam war but his life ws cut short by an assassination. Before the man who killed him could go totrial he was murdred and his motives still are questionable to date. JFKs death tooka great mans life who changed the world for the better .
  • US enters Vietnam War

    The Vietnam war was a war between north and south vietnam, the north was supported by the soviets and the south was supported by America and anti communist countries. Vietnam was viewed as another Korea and if it fell Eisenhower feared many others would fall to communism because of it. In the end south vietnam surrendered and lost the war while the north one the war and made vietnam whole. The war had a lasting impact on the asian countries surrounding Vietnam.
  • US lands astronauts on the moon

    The Apollo 11 mission was the first to have a man land on the moon and return him to Earth. This was a great time for mankind because our reach was raised from just Earth to space which was a great accomplishment for Amercia. This mission also effectively ended the space race which was between America and the USSR to land a man on the moon.
  • Berlin Wall is torn down

    When the Berlin Wall was torned down it was a great day of celebration because a city that was once seperated was allowed to be untited to become one nation once again. This significant step was a step inn the right direction and was caused by the slow decline of communism. After the wall was demolished East Germany was dissolutioned and Germany became one nation once again after 44 years of being split after WW2.
  • Soviet Union breaks up

    After years of being the Soviet Union the USSR dissolutionized which led to it acknowledging all the countries it had taken under its power their independence. When the USSR was dissolutioned it also brought an end to the long running cold war between the US and the USSR. The break up of the USSR was led up to by many of the baltic states and officilas in Russia weeking more freedom and indipendence.
