Tobacco is what started the colonies but what was really needed was labor. Slavery came in and had work force develop tobacco even more to prosper as such insane rates. Slavery is the core of the "land of the free". It adds tension towards the Civil War because slaves wanted free, but centuries passed and slaves continue to be slaves, and be treated as property. -

The State's struggled against the federal government and individual states over political power. -
Abolitionist Movement
Abolitionist do not want slavery to expand because they thought it was wrong. Again, this involves slavery. Majority of the causes are related to slaves. Abolitionist travels to free, end slavery, or just stop the expansion of slavery into new territories. -
The Missouri Compromise
The Missouri Compromise gave us more territories to settle in and prosper but it heightened the slavery debate on which territories will be free or slave state. Abolitionist fought to make slavery illegal in certain states. -
Uncle Tom's Cabin
Uncle Tom's Cabin, writted by Harriet Beecher. It is a written document/book that is against slavery. It offered a vision people have never seen before from slavery. It was a different view towards slavery. -
Dred Scott Decision
The Surpreme Court denied his request stating that no person with African blood could become a U.S. citizen. It also overturned the Missouri Compromise of 1820. -
John Brown
John Brown was a man who had visions that told him to arm and guide the slaves to a better future, which involves in taking over a part of the well guarded territory they were trying to conquer. The effort was reckless but it was considered a heroic act to the North. He was a hero but he was a terrorist in the South.
