    The fugitive slave act was a terrible act in which runaway slaves was gettuing captured. Suspected slave could not ask for a jury trial or testify on his or her own behalf. 20,000 blacks moved back to their neighboring state.

    The Kansas Nebraska act was passed by Congress. It allowed people in the territories of Kansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves whether or not to allow slavery within their borders. This was called popular sovereignty. This act created a fight that triggered the war; Bleeding Kansas.
