Causes of the American Revolution

  • French and Indian war

    French and Indian war
    The French and Indian war first started in 1754 and ended in 1763. It all started from wanting fertile near the Ohio River Valley between the British and colonist and the French and their native allies. in Europe it was knows as the 7 year war. "The Great War for the Empire".
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was to reduce tax on molasses. Many colonist had to end up paying more taxes. The Sugar Act of 1764 was passed by Parliament on April 5, 176. It stated that American colonists had to pay a 3 cent tax on sugar.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was a way to earn more money. Colonist had to pay for every piece of paper they used. Such as legal papers, documents, and newspapers. This was passed by the British parliament. The money was to help the soliders who were in the Appalachian Mountains.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    This was a way for soldiers to have housing and food. There was so many sholiders after the French and Indian war they maintained a standing army. This was 2 Britsh Laws passed by the parliament of Great Britan. The colonist would help have this offered for the soliders.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    The Declaratory act was passed by parliament to support its power. It states that the authority of parliament was the same in both America and Britain and that had the authority to pass laws in the American colonies.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    The townshend acts were passed by Parliament after the stamp act was revoked it collected revenue by putting a tariff on imports of paper, tea, glass and lead. Many colonists protested the taxes. This led to a boycott of all english goods.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    5 cilivans died from this and this incident happened because of the colonists anger against the British troops sent to Boston to maintain order and to enforce the Townshend Acts. 4 thousand troops were sent to boston.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    Was passed by parliament on May 10, 1773. This was not ment for American Colonist. Coloinst did not have to tax. The tea was shipped and to be taxed as a bargin price.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    Colonists were outraged by the tariff on tea and some men dress up as indians. Boarded a ship the night of December 16 , 1773 and dumped the tea into the ocean.
  • Intolerable Act

    The Intolerable Acts were put into place after the boston tea party by the british parliament. This was to
    punish the Massachusetts colonists for their defiance in throwing a large tea shipment into Boston harbor.
