  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    Treaty was signed my Britain, French, and Spain in 1763. The Treaty of Paris was a document that ended the Frence and Indian War in North America. This war was to gain control over land in North America. The Frence ended up losing the war and all of its land in the North. After the war, the British started to tax the colonies to pay for the war. Which led to tension between the two.
  • British Pass the Sugar Act

    British Pass the Sugar Act
    This act was passed by Parliament on the colonies in 1764. The Sugar Act was a tax on the trade of molasses and rum. This directly affected the merchants because they had to pay the tax in order to trade molasses. This eventually lead to them smuggling molasses and rum which was dangerous and risky because of the New England Ports. The colonist started to protest the Sugar Act and the began to focus on the idea of no taxation without representation.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This Act was put on the colonies by British Parliament in 1765. This Act put a tax on all stamped paper in the colonies. These taxes had to be payed with British money not in colonial money. Many Colonist felt this as unfair because they were being taxes without their approval.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    This act was called the American Colonies Act but was commonly known as the Declaratory Act. This Act was put into effect in the year 1766. This act was passed on the colonies from Parliament. This act declared that the Parliament authority was the same in the colonies as in Britain. This also asserted Parliament's power to pass laws that are binding to the colonies.

    Townshend Act
    The Townshend Act was a tax on the colonist and was passed in the begining of 1767. This act was passed to try to raise British revenue after the French and Indian War. The Townshend Act mentioned 5 laws, the Revenue Act of 1767, the Indemnity Act, the Commissioners of Customs Act, the Vice Admiralty Court Act, and the New York Restraining Act.

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre happened in Boston, Massachusetts in 1770. The Boston Massacre was when British soldiers shot and killed 5 protesters. After this incedent, the colonies wanted the British troop out of the colonies.
  • Parliament Passes Tea Act

    Parliament Passes Tea Act
    The British Parliament passed another act called the Tea Act in 1773. This act was created to help pay for the war the British and French fought in North America. This act taxed all tea that went to the colonies which made the tension with the colonist and the British increase because they felt that the taxes went against the Magna Carta which said that the people should have the right to vote on new taxes.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest by a group called the Sons of Liberty in 1773. This protest was over the taxes on tea. After officials denied sending 3 shiploads of tea to Britain, Boston protesters sneak on the boats, dressed as Indian, and dumped the tea into the Boston Harbor. The colonies were declared by the King as "in a state of rebellion" so he sends more troops into the colonies to gain control.
  • Intolerable Act

    Intolerable Act
    The original name of the Intolerate Act was the Coercive Act, the Partiots gave this Act the name Intolerable Act. This Act was passed by Parliament in 1774. This Act had a series of punitive laws which stripped Massachusetts of self governing and historic rights. This law was passed after the Boston Tea Party. Doing this made the 13 colonies mad.
  • Battle at Lexington and Concord

    Battle at Lexington and Concord
    The Battle at Lexington and Concord was the first battle of the American Revolution. This battle happened in April 1775. This battles happened in the towns of Lexington, Concord, Menotomy, and Cambridge near Boston. This battle was fought between the colonies and the British. The colonist attacked the British while they were marching from Boston to Concord. The colonist won the battle.
